Look at what they already use
If you can ask naturally, find out the exact name and version of a fragrance they enjoy. EDT and EDP versions can differ. Otherwise, notice whether they gravitate toward clean, floral, sweet or woody scents. Their age or gender alone is not a reliable scent profile.
Give discovery rather than a large commitment
A small selection can be a thoughtful alternative to one large bottle. Choose different but relevant scent directions, rather than several near-identical options. Make the format clear: a decant arrives in a smaller atomiser, not the original retail presentation.
Remove practical surprises
Read the current product listing and delivery policy before ordering. Allow for both processing and courier delivery when working toward a birthday or anniversary. Do not assume perfume can be returned after opening or testing; check the applicable policy first. A simple note explaining why you chose each scent can make a discovery gift feel much more personal.
