One review calls a fragrance soft; another calls it overwhelming. That disagreement does not necessarily mean someone is wrong. People may be testing different versions, applying different amounts or describing different aspects of the experience.
Check the comparison
Confirm that the review refers to the same fragrance and concentration. Then look for context: was it worn on skin, clothing or a paper strip? Was the reviewer discussing the opening or the scent several hours later?
Distinguish enjoyment from strength
A person can dislike a perfume while acknowledging its performance. Another may love a fragrance that stays close to the skin. A star rating often mixes these judgments together, so read the explanation rather than treating the number as a technical score.
Use reviews to form questions
Instead of expecting the same result, use a review to decide what to test: is it too sweet later, comfortable indoors, or different from the EDT? Repeat a sample on more than one day before deciding. Reviews are useful clues, but they cannot replace the experience of wearing a fragrance in your own routine.
